In every society, there exist groups that, for various reasons, find themselves on the fringes. At Love and Compassion Ministries, we believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every individual. Our Untouchable Care initiative aims to uplift and integrate those who have been overlooked or underserved. Here’s a detailed overview of our dedicated approach.

Our organization, Love and Compassion Ministries, is committed to addressing the persistent issue of social inequality and untouchability in both rural and urban areas of India. Despite progress in technology, these outdated practices still exist, perpetuating hatred and division. We believe that all individuals are equal in the eyes of God, and it is our mission to help others understand this truth and live accordingly. Through our efforts, we aim to promote social equality and foster a more compassionate and just a healthy socialΒ society.

"Unveiling the Harsh Realities: Systemic Untouchability Practices in India":

Untouchability in India represents a deeply entrenched social institution that sanctions and perpetuates discriminatory, degrading, exclusionary, and exploitative practices against specific social groups. The term is most notably linked to the treatment of Dalit communities in the Indian subcontinent, who historically were deemed “polluting.” The manifestations of untouchability are manifold, ranging from prohibitions on communal dining to the enforcement of separate cups in village tea stalls. This deplorable practice extends to separate seating arrangements and utensils in restaurants, as well as segregation in seating and food arrangements during village functions and festivals.

The oppressive nature of untouchability further extends to denying individuals from certain communities the right to enter places of public worship and imposing restrictions on seemingly mundane activities, such as wearing sandals or holding umbrellas in the presence of higher caste members. Such discriminatory norms permeate various aspects of life, including entry into other caste homes, usage of common village paths, and access to burial/cremation grounds. Additionally, untouchability is evident in the denial of Dalits’ access to common public properties and resources, such as wells, ponds, and temples. These reprehensible practices even extend to the segregation of children in schools, bonded labor, and social boycotts imposed by other castes when Dalits refuse to adhere to their assigned “duties.” The persistence of untouchability highlights the urgent need for comprehensive social reform and the promotion of inclusive values in Indian society.
